I always find it interesting when people say this site is “about” this or that. Over the years more than a few people have described it as a site about Thailand. While I have written quite a bit about the land of smiles, I have also covered numerous other countries. In fact, I’ve written about dozens of cities spanning four continents.

At other times people have remarked that the site was about things like massage parlors. Or suck shops. Or Japan. Again these are things that have all been covered in detail here. But overall this site aims to cover the commercial sex industry around the world. And that includes a lot of things. It’s not limited to one country or one type of sex shop.

I’d pay to see those

When I first started writing here I did quite a few posts about cams and the girls who work them. I even made an early post rationalizing why I view cams even though I am intimately familiar with so may women who offer real sexual services in the flesh.

Anaconda Club is a karaoke-cum-hostess bar in Ubon Ratchanthani. The place is sort of out of the way and discreet. Yet it has a reputation as being home to some of the most beautiful adult entertainers in town. It is known by taxi drivers and even women at other adult venues such as soapy massage parlors.

At first glance there is not much going on after hours in Ubon. Although the city is one of the “big four” of Isaan with a population of around 200,000 people it does appear to be a pretty quiet place. But the appearance is somewhat deceptive. There are actually some adult entertainment venues in town. They just aren’t right out in the open on the main drag.

None of the places like Anaconda or the previously reviewed Atami soapy massage are really oriented to foreigners either. In fact English is only rarely spoken in most of these places. The main customer base is local. Foreigners are accepted at all local venues of the sort. And farang and Asian visitors do show up with at least some regularity. But there is not much in English or other languages for non-Thai patrons of adult entertainment in Ubon Ratchathani.

Location and layout

Anaconda is located in a small alley called Soi Buraphanai 1. The soi is only one block long. It connects to a main road called Buraphanai but is itself a sort of side street. There is an open air Thai restaurant across the street but patrons there don’t seem to pay any attention to the comings and goings over at Anaconda.

As stated above the place is somewhat well known. Taxis and even most Grab drivers know of the place. It is also correctly located on Google maps. So there is really no challenge in finding Anaconda at all.

Anaconda Club itself is easy to see. It isn’t plastered with bright neon lights or anything. But the front wall has the word ANACONDA spelled out in large English letters. There is a door next to that that leads into a small entrance room.

Beyond that a door to the left leads to what is a rather large bar. The place is done up in a black and red layout reminiscent of The Den in Pattaya. Anaconda isn’t dirty but it isn’t sparkling and new either. For example there are tears in some of the seats. And the dirty water odor typical to so many places in Thailand can fill the place early in the evenings before copious amounts of air freshener are sprayed. This is not to paint a dim view of the place though. It is not a “hole in the wall” by any means.

There is a large square bar in the front of the room. On the far end of the room there is a stage where live bands can play. To the back there is a decent pool table. Large and clean bathrooms at the back. Most of the rest of the space is taken up by tables and love seat style seating. And the walls have their own flat screen televisions that play programs no one seems to pay attention to. Various music is played at a loud but manageable level.

Upstairs there are private karaoke rooms. They are about what you would expect in a place like this. They’re not necessarily lavish. But they are certainly not bad either. They get the job done and allow for the kind of entertainment the ladies at Anaconda provide.

The women at Anaconda Club

There are twenty or more women working at Anaconda Club. Many different styles are represented but there is some uniformity. The gals all range in age from twenty to maybe thirty. But most are in their early twenties. Most also follow the sort of beauty standard so beloved in Thailand. That means they tend to be tall and thin with large breasts and high nose bridges. Since few people in Ubon naturally have those features that means a lot of plastic surgery and cosmetics have been used.

There are at least some full natural women working at Anaconda too. One ever-smiling babe I met was as pure as the day she was born. She didn’t even sport much makeup. Still she was quite light skinned with a rather high nose. She also sported a pretty big rack for the region.

Anaconda opens at 9:00 PM. The bar is fully functioning but rather empty as the entertainers are not yet on call. Starting at around 10:00 PM the ladies start filling up the seats that line the walls. Some wear normal dresses. Others wear things that are more sexy and revealing up to and including bikinis that barely conceal their big boobs.

The gals don’t really approach customers. Even when they pass through the main bar area they barely make eye contact. They aren’t cold or standoffish. But they aren’t aggressive in any way at all. It is only when a customer calls for the ladies that they really light up and come to life.

Prices and services

Although Anaconda Club is clearly an adult entertainment venue it doesn’t actually offer any explicit sexual services. You won’t find any full service or happy endings on the menu. Instead the gals are there to interact with guys and entertain them in ways that can be alluring. And while some ladies might meet some guys outside of the bar for money or simply enjoyment that is not standard. In fact there is no barfine in place at all.

There are sitting fees at Anaconda though. This is common in many karaoke clubs. Customers have to pay the bar to have a gal sit with them. And they’re billed per hour. The rate to sit with a regular woman for an hour is 350 Baht ($11 USD). There is a “higher class” of women who get 500 ($16 USD) per hour. Then there are the “models” in bikinis. Sitting with them costs 650 Baht ($21 USD) per hour. Private rooms are available for singing and drinking. But the gals can also sit in the many seats downstairs.

The prices aren’t outrageous. Drinks are sold at a reasonable rate. A large bottle of beer costs 120 Baht ($3.90 USD). And it can be shared with any of the ladies at no extra charge. Some gals do request additional drinks such as five glasses of vodka for 500 Baht. But they are not pushy or demanding about it. And it is somewhat standard for customers to tip a couple of hundred Baht at the end of the night.

When I first learned of Anaconda I was told by a Thai guy that Anaconda was full of very hot women who wouldn’t even let you shake their hands. I didn’t find that to be the case at all. No one jumped on me as I entered or anything like that. But everyone including a female floor manager was very friendly. The gals I called over got right next to me and we all had a good time. No one stuck their hand down my shorts but it wasn’t anything like a “no touching” strip club in the West either. It was about what I would expect from a bar of the type. Or perhaps even a bit better. I was even able to order up some very delicious food at a reasonable price. For the type of venue it is I think Anaconda is quite nice. I give it two-and-a-half stars.

Erika is a relatively tall and busty babe at Paradise Kawasaki who I would describe as “very Japanese.” While the shop she works at is actually oriented towards foreigners with all materials in English, Erika herself can only speak Japanese. Erika’s decription

I have to hand it to Paradise for using pretty accurate photographs. Pretty much every shop in Japan edits pictures of the women on staff. But some like JK Style can do it to the point of outright distortion. The women I have seen at Paradise over the last two years look like their pictures. That is also true of Erika.

At 174 centimeters (5’8″) Erika is a bit tall for Japan. At least she seems so to me. But she is not lanky at all. Erika’s body is filled out nicely. A Japanese soapland experience is exactly what Erika providers. And her experience shines through the entire time. Erika is 24 years old. I don’t know exactly when she got into the game. But she has had plenty of time to hone her skills. And she has obviously done so.

Air Force Bar is one of the longest standing bars in Phnom Penh. There are now several dozen girlie bars scattered around the city. But not long ago there were just a handful of establishments of the sort. Air Force Bar was one of those originals. Today it remains one of the most popular.

Air Force is well known among a subset of regular customers. It is also known among many bar girls too. Some of the most attractive women I have ever seen in hostess bars around Phnom Penh eventually ended up working at Air Force. Its reputation must also serve as a draw.

Yet there are also regulars in Phnom Penh who tend to avoid the bar for various reasons. Like the previously reviewed Rose Bar across the street it does have its detractors. That seems especially true nowadays with so many new bars available for punters to visit.

Location and layout

As mentioned Air Force Bar is located on Street 104 opposite Rose Bar. I cannot be complete sure but I believe Air Force Bar was the second bar to open on the street. I do know that Rose Bar was certainly the first. Today there are many bars on 104.

In any event Air Force is easy to find. There is a large sign over the entrance. And there are almost always groups of women hanging around outside. Inside the bar takes up the spaces of two shop houses. It expanded a few years ago and took over the adjoining building.

In the original shop there is a long bar along the left side. It is staffed with plenty of bar tenders and a computer used for playing music from Youtube. The rest of the room is filled with tables and chairs of various types. They are usually filled with women who are happy to move to accommodate guests.

The other space is open through a doorway made in the old wall. There are many more seats over there. It is not any more comfortable or otherwise notable. It is just another space available for customers and the women on staff.

Air Force Bar has an informal feel that often veers into party territory. In some ways this can become problematic. For example letting a large dog roam around the premises could certainly turn some people away. And that includes me.

Staff, service and conclusion

Air Force Bar has a very large staff. It rivals Rose Bar and some other large establishments in terms of sheer numbers of women working. It is not out of the ordinary to see more than two dozen women inside of Air Force Bar. For a large Bangkok go go that wouldn’t mean much. But is notable in Phnom Penh.

The women have a range of looks. But most are average to attractive. Ultimately beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But popular Phnom Penh hostess bars are rarely lacking in terms of good looking ladies.

The average age of the women on staff is somewhere in the low twenties. But women as young as nineteen and as old as thirty eight can be found in Air Force Bar most nights. The level of spoken English is average. Though it is certainly much higher than what one finds almost anywhere in Thailand or Vietnam.

Drink prices are average for the local market. The barfine is too. Many of the women in the bar are open to leaving the bar with customers. But as with any bar of the kind in Phnom Penh there are also women who will not. Some are picky too. They will only go out of the bar if the mood or situation strikes them.

Air Force Bar has been around for quite a while. But that does not necessarily mean it is superior to newer bars. In fact the opposite can be true in some cases. As it stands Air Force is a decided average bar with an oversized reputation. I give it two-and-half stars.

All about Rika

Rika is not to be confused with Erika who featured here recently. Both are J-girls through and through. Erika is curvy and forward. But Rika is petite and slightly more demure. Rika is also a few years older than Erika though that doesn’t have any bearing on her service.

Tomodachi Japan is a self-described relationship forum setup for foreign people to meet Japanese people in Japan. It follows a simple yet powerful model that reminds me of some other sites that have made waves on the internet and around the world.

The premise is straightforward. When you visit Tomodachi Japan you see the latest posts presented in order. Each post is short and to the point. People leave messages along with a method of contact like an ID for use with the Line app.

Some on Tomodachi Japan people say they’re just looking for friends or someone to talk to. Others are more explicit or forward in looking for a “friend with benefits”. Some people are even looking for dates and are willing to compensate. It’s a real mixed bag. But it’s all in English and easy to read.

You can actually sort through the posts too. Down at the bottom of the page there are links that allow you to narrow down posts by region. You can also narrow them down by nationality. Of course you can make your own posts too. All you have to do is click a button and get typing.

Keeping it simple

The Tomodachi Japan relationship forum is a new sort of thing. Yet it is very familiar. It is not a forum in the mold of the discussion forums that were once quite popular on the internet. It is more like a bulletin board that has been updated and specialized for a particular audience. In this case that means foreigners who want to meet Japanese people, and vice versa.

Regular readers may note that I have posted some translations of Japanese interviews here that originally appeared on sites like 2Chan. That anonymous image board model has since spread around the world. More recently it has even come under fire. Yet there can be no doubt that the basic idea behind that site had a real impact.

Then there’s Craigslist. For the English speaking world this has been a major site for many years. Although it is quite basic in appearance, it was the go to website for countless millions of people looking for anything from a used bicycle to a handjob. In the early days of this site I used to mention it a lot. Then the site ditched its erotic services section and more recently even got rid of its personals section. People still post ads for erotic services and personals in various other sections, but the site is not what it used to be.

Tomodachi Japan

Tomodachi Japan falls into the same sort of mold. You can figure out what the site is about as soon as you see it. And you don’t need to fumble around or fight your way through various ads or menus just to get to the main content.

What makes it special is the way it has embraced modern technology. When 2Chan and Craigslist were in their heydays most people had old flip phone if they even had a cell phone at all. Today most people have a smart phone. And a lot of them are using apps like Line and WeChat for most of their daily communication.

Tomodachi Japan has built a form that allows posters to include their chat app identification codes right into their listings. So you can easily browse through all the posts. And when you find someone you want to talk to, you just add them to your app and send a message. If either party is uninterested it is very easy to end the discussion. If they are both interested, it’s just as easy to move forward.

All the information you need is right up front and easy to find. For example, I was just looking at a post from a 24 year old woman in Tokyo. I saw her stats at the top right of her post. Then I read about what she was looking for. Then I got her Line ID. How simple is that?

Because Tomodachi Japan is so straightforward and easy to use, I think it will get a lot of attention. There are already a lot of people posting on the site. So clearly there is big potential here. As the Tokyo 2020 Olympics approach, I bet the number of people meeting on Tomodachi Japan will rapidly increase.

Club Reina is a semi-secretive bar in Tokyo. As I will explain the place doesn’t even have correct signage outside of its location. You don’t need any passwords to gain entrance. But is certainly not the kind of place you would just wander into accidentally either.

There are prostitution information centers all over Japan. These fuzoku annaijo are staffed by guys knowledgeable about the area and its adult entertainment venues. They also have contacts with local shops and venues. So they can get information they don’t have. They can also contact a shop and ask them if it is okay for a foreigner to visit.

A good Japanese friend of mine recently heard about a denma kyabakura operating in the notorious Kabukicho section of Tokyo. This loosely translates to “vibrator hostess bar”. He had heard that there were some new hostess bars where you could use a vibrator on the hostesses. Needless to say we set out to look for them. But when we arrived in Kabukicho we were lost. There were no such shops to find. Guys at a few fuzoku annaijo told us they were all shuttered . Yet we persisted in asking around until we were finally referred to Club Reina by an enterprising young man.

Location and layout

Club Reina is hidden in the tangled web of streets that make up Kabikucho. It is located on the fifth floor of an otherwise nondescript building. There are some signs outside. But none of them say Club Reina. In fact, the sign inside the elevator labels the fifth floor bar as “Secret.” It is easy to see why!

Inside the place looks like a well appointed hostess bar. It’s surprisingly large for a Tokyo shop of its kind. There are big comfortable booth seats spread around in a away that ensures everyone has their own privacy. Assuming there is anyone to maintain privacy from. During my visit my friend and I were the only customers in the bar. And this was at about 10:30 PM on a Friday night.

The one waiter we met was very attentive. He was also well dressed in a black suit. He brought us over a menu and explained the system. Or at least he tried to. As with most Japanese hostess bars there is a sitting fee for each woman. On top of that there are various options that are listed on a menu. Each has its own additional price. The bill is tabulated at the end. But we had to put down a deposit to start.

The women at Club Reina

As we were instructed by our guide Club Reina is okay with foreigners as long as they can speak Japanese and understand the system. But as it turned out even my native-speaking Japanese friend ended up being slightly confused by all the various options. The place is a hostess bar plus some.

As far as I know there is no lineup available at Reina. Nor is there any kind of photo book to reference. The waiter asks what kind of girls you like then does his best to accommodate. Customers can ask for a lady to be changed once they show up too. It is similar to most Ho Chi Minh City massage parlors in that regard.

The two women we saw at Club Reina were quite attractive. One was thin with a very pretty face. The other had a bodacious body with big round breasts yet she wasn’t fat or even chubby at all. Neither would have been out of place working at Tokyo Style. They were also both quite friendly and amenable from the very beginning.

Services

Women sit with you in hostess bars all over the place. At Club Reina they also have a menu of other options. For example you can draw straws for a set fee. Whoever loses has to take off theirtop for a few minutes. And in perfect Japanese fashion they actually use an egg timer to make sure there isn’t an extra second of titty exposure.

Some options are more straight to the point. For example for a few thousand yen the place becomes something like an oppai pub. With a hostess on your lap you can kiss and touch her exposed breasts for a few minutes. Though again the old reliable egg timer comes out to track the seconds.

There is also a vibrator option. In Japan they refer to vibrators like the now famous Hitachi Magic Wand as denma. We originally set out looking for a denma kyabakura. And that is why we were referred to Club Reina.

The denma service is basically just what it sounds like. For a set fee you can use a denma on a hostess for a few minutes. This is done over the clothes. But since most of them wear short skirts this usually means working a vibrator over a thin pair of panties. Yet again time is tracked with a timer.

Prices and summary

I don’t want to give the impression that the staff are all cold and calculating clock watchers. Because the truth is that they aren’t. And they don’t even really watch the timer all that closely. So it is quite possible to get some “extra fun” off the menu. But even though it feels like a friendly place with full people on staff there is of course a charge for everything.

And what a charge it is! I usually try hard to track prices and fees so that I can accurately report on them here. In fact I may have even spoiled some of my own experiences by paying such close attention to these sorts of details in the past. But at Club Reina there was simply no way for me to keep up in real time and track all the various charges. What I can tell you is the total cost for my friend and I to sit with two pretty women in their early twenties, have a couple of drinks, and view and fondle some breasts over a thirty minute period. The check came to a whopping 62000 Yen ($571 USD)!

Now that is nothing to sneeze at. Even in a city like Tokyo which is widely described as one of the most expensive on earth. Karaoke clubs can cost a lot of money. So can kyabakura in Japan. Kanon is one of the newer additions to the lineup at Paradise Yoshiwara. She stands out from the rest of the staff for a few reasons. The main one is that she sports a very big and round backside. The other is that she is more amateur like than some of her more professional coworkers.

Spotlight Bar is one of the few go go bars in Chiang Mai. It is the longest standing of the bunch and probably the most popular. For years Spotlight sat across the moat and down from the famous Tha Phae Gate. More recently it moved to a new location. It is still on a main thoroughfare and within walking distance of what is arguably the biggest tourist attraction in town.

The go go bar scene in Chiang Mai is not large by any measure. But it does exist. There are three go bars in town. They cater almost exclusively to tourists and foreigners. Local guys also enjoy their adult entertainment. But they are much more likely to frequent karaoke clubs or local massage parlors like the previously reviewed Mossa Hue.

Location and layout

The new Spotlight Agogo is located on Chang Moi Rd near the intersection with Chaiyapoom Road. The old place was south of the gate. The new place is a little north but otherwise on the same side of the old moat. It is very easy to find. The sign is bright and obvious. And the building just looks like a go go bar.

Inside Spotlight Agogo is quite large. The old place was pretty big too. So nothing has changed except that the new facilities are cleaner and perhaps more modern. A large stage sits slightly off center on the right side of the floor. There is a bar on the left side with a clear view of the stage. And there are booth seats all around the walls near the stage.

The atmosphere at Spotlight is very laid back. Everyone is more or less friendly. There are no pushy mamasans to be found. Nor are there any menacing bouncers about. It is one of the more open go go bars around. This feeling is enhanced by the fact that it never seems to get swamped with customers either.

Despite the large size of the bar there are not many women working at Spotlight most nights. The place isn’t devoid of ladies by any means. But the building could certainly house a much larger staff. Though the customer base probably couldn’t support that.

Ladies, services and summary

As it stands the bar has somewhere between ten and fifteen women each night. They take turns dancing on stage in teams of two or three. Others mill about the bar or disappear into the back. The women range in looks but most are in their twenties or thirties and could be described as average to attractive in relative terms.

As with most bars things are really hit or miss. I vividly remember one visit when two quite attractive and fit ladies were prancing around on stage in thongs and not much else. Yet on another visit the ladies present were much more advanced in age and size. Though they were a little more covered up.

Most of the women who work at Spotlight are nice and easily approachable. Drinks and lady drinks are priced reasonably for the area and venue. The bar fine is 900 Baht ($28 USD). The ladies typically ask for around 3000 Baht ($94.50 USD) for a short time session. Some seem very keen to be taken out of the bar. Though others are quite satisfied staying in the bar and having drinks.

Spotlight Bar is the oldest bar in Chiang Mai. Yet it has updated itself over the years. It even relocated and built a new facility out. So it cannot be accused of resting on its laurels. Still it is a fairly average place. It stands out in Chiang Mai by being one of the few go go bars. In other areas it would be much less notable. Two stars.
